Under the terms of its Constitution, the APA holds a conference every year. Over 50 prosecutors attended the most recent conference in (Maputo 2004), (Equtorial Guinea 2005) and Luanda 2007 from over 33 countries. The conferences have concentrated on subjects that are of paramount interest to prosecutors and prosecuting Agencies / Authorities. In (Luanda 2007), the Association drafted and endorsed the Luanda Declaration that concentrated on crimes against children and venerable witnesses and human trafficking. The drawing together of prosecutors from so many varied jurisdictions has already resulted in positive cooperation between prosecuting agencies in Africa. | |
The Association seeks to establish mutual legal assistance, support, and assistance to prosecuting Authorities in Africa. Following each conference, working groups, involving prosecutors from around the world are formed to take forward the work of the conference and provide sources of information and expertise for colleagues continentally 
 | The APA, is bound by the terms of its Constitution to facilitate the exchange and dissemination of information, expertise and experience and it works closely with the African Union, to secure the assistance of experienced prosecutors for projects and advice. The Association seeks to act as an intermediary in the recruitment of prosecutors from various jurisdictions for such tasks. This work will also be taken forward through co-operation with the Legal Secretariat of the African Union. Since 2006 the Association has been engaging the African Union Legal Secretariat with the aim of assisting with the drafting of recommendations for the Committee of Ministers on legislation that deals with the Role of Public Prosecution. Supported by the government of Denmark, the APA’s 2008 Activities’ Work-plan include: the consolidation of its brand and actualization of its developed Website; selection, mobilization and engagement of 5 SADC countries in orchestrated efforts to establish the TCCs towards combating sexual violence and abuse as well as the APA’s substantive participation in the on-coming IATSO Conference and effecting APA’s Conference and AGM, respectively. |
